Team Vaghi – Northern Region reserves the right to hold members accountable for actions both in and out of the gym. It is the responsibility of each member to demonstrate the highest principles of sportsmanship and teamwork within the gym. At all times, each member will conduct themselves within the laws of their community.

Minor infractions of the code of conduct will be handled at the gym level by their coach with either verbal counseling or a written warning forwarded to TVNR. Major infractions will be handled by the TVNR Regional Director or Professor Rodrigo Vaghi. Discipline ranges from written warning, suspension, or removal from the team.

TVNR members agree to the following terms:

  • Bow to the center of the mat when entering or exiting the training area
  • Treat students, guests, and coaches with respect at all times
  • Win without boasting and lose without excuses – no ego
  • Don’t be afraid to tap – remember this is only practice
  • Train hard, but always with safety in mind
  • Must maintain a calm temperament
  • No political or religious discussions in the gym
  • No shoes or food allowed on the mat
  • Keep uniforms and training gear clean (see hygiene policy)
  • Must wear an appropriate uniform to class
  • Remove all jewelry and piercings before class
  • Keep quiet when coach is demonstrating a technique
  • No video recording during class without permission from the coach
  • Any video recordings are to be for personal use only and not posted online
  • Must not attend practice under the influence of any illegal substance
  • Students must self-report to their coach any arrests due to criminal activity

Violation of any of the following are considered major infractions. TVNR has a zero tolerance policy to the following terms:

  • Purposeful injury to your training partner
  • Theft from the team or a teammate
  • Domestic violence of any kind
  • Sexual violence of any kind
  • Racism, sexism, or any other form of discrimination
  • Felony level criminal activity
